Availability & lead times.
Production is limited by the rate at which units survive the handover. Lead times are honest and long.

Quality & certification.
Independently assessed to the fullest extent that an assessor is willing to proceed.
Certification covers our manufacturing process, our documentation, and our facilities. It does not cover the product, as certification requires a description of the item being certified. We have raised this with the standards body twice and lost a unit on the second occasion.
Intellectual property.
Our position is protected by every means available except the usual one.
Patents. Four applications were filed between 2018 and 2021 and all four were withdrawn before publication. A patent application must describe the invention in terms sufficient for a skilled reader to reproduce it, and we have read that sentence many times looking for a way through.
Trade secret. Our current protection is that nobody, including the research team, is able to say what it is. Legal counsel has described this as "unusually robust."
Licensing. Licences are available. The agreement runs to eleven pages and does not, at any point, identify the licensed article. Signatories have not objected.
Facilities.
Two sites, both on campus, both quiet.
Sector 4 — Research. Established 2017. Fourteen staff, of whom nine have been here since the beginning. Whiteboards were removed in 2019 following an incident and have not been reinstated.
Sector 7 — Production. Established 2022. Runs continuously, including the 25th hour, during which output is not recorded and is not missed.
Visiting. Tours are available to licensees and holders of a current pass. Visitors are asked not to ask, and are reminded that the tour guide is also under this instruction and finds the tours difficult.
